Military Medal 'These men [825 Arthur BENESS, 1431 Albert BRENTON, and KENT] distinguished themselves in the fighting near Riencourt on 11th April 1917. The fourth member of their squad was killed early in the fight but these three continued to carry in wounded for fourteen hours without a rest, in spite of heavy rifle, machine gun and shell fire. They saved a very large number of men and set a splendid example.' |
