Military Cross 'During the advance of Rainecourt, east of Amiens, on 9th August, 1918, this officer led his men, with the greatest courage and skill, to their objective, personally superintending the consolidation of the position, moving from post to post under heavy machine gun and shell fire. In the advance he encountered a hostile post. He unhesitatingly rushed it, with one man, and killed or wounded the garrison of five.'
