Source: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 169 Date: Military Medal 'In the trenches near GUEUDECOURT from 27th November, to 6th December, 1916, Lance Corporal TRICK did excellent work. He commanded a bombing section in No. 4 Platoon occupying an advanced listening post. Although our own artillery shells were bursting over the spot he pushed his post forward at great personal rick, as a commanding position in full view of the German lines. Although all were very tired he by his example and energy, so encouraged his men that by day light he had dug a sap back to our front line and so made a safe approach to the bombing post. Whilst we were relieving on the night of 3rd December, 1916, although wounded by a shell and badly shaken some distance behind the firing line, he led his section up to the firing line, relieved the section in his post, posted his men and remained with them until ordered to leave by his Officer. After having a splinter extracted from his side at the R.A.P. and his wounded dressed he returned to his section and remained with them until relieved on the night of 6th/7th December, 1916. This N.C.O. has always proved useful and reliable both in and out of the firing line.'
