Military Medal 'At POLYGON WOOD.This N.C.O. accompanied his officer Lieutenant A.T. Ewart during the operations of 25/26/27th September 1917 to assist him in the staking and taping of track to our objectives gained. he personally in daylight with his officer, supervised the placing of the stakes and the running of the tapes for this track which was carried out beyond the line which our Infantry consolidated on at the time. He was wounded slightly but remained throughout with his officer in pegging and tracing a further track to the line in daylight on the 27th instant and assisted in the supervision of the wiring of the RED Line on the 28th instant.'
