Military Medal 'This N.C.O. distinguished himself by unfailing cheerfulness, energy, and courage, during the attack and heavy enemy artillery fire on the 5th April, 1918, near DERNANCOURT near ALBERT. He was employed with a party of Sappers in keeping the roads in this area in repair. In spite of constant damage to the roads by shell-fire, his example and steady hold on his men was of the greatest value in maintaining this important work.'
