Military Medal 'On the 8th August, 1918, during the operations on the SOMME, east of HAMEL, Sergeant FRANKHAM did splendid work and showed skilful leadership as a Platoon Sergeant. He advanced his Platoon rapidly in spite of the difficulties arising from dense fog and thick growth of underbrush. During the advance on the objective he showed unflinching courage in personally mopping up dugouts and taking prisoners. On reaching the objective he at once consolidated and established a Lewis Gun Post on a bridge, cleared up all surrounding ground, and succeeded in capturing more prisoners. He also kept good liaison with the Platoon on the north bank of the SOMME. Throughout the operations Sergeant FRANKHAM's splendid leadership and exemplary courage was excellent example to all ranks.'
