War service: embarked from Sydney, 20 April 1916; disembarked Suez, 24 May 1916. Embarked on HM Transport Ship 'Franconia' from Alexandria, 6 June 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 16 June 1916. Admitted to Venereal Disease Hospital, Plymouth, for 16 days' treatment; discharged to 13th Training Bn, 1 July 1916. [This entry was subsequently found to be incorrect and complete entry was deleted.

Embarked for overseas service in France, 16 September 1916; marched in to 4th Australian General Base Depot, Etaples, 17 September 1916. Proceeded to join unit in the field, 27 September 1916; joined unit, 28 September 1916.

Transferred to 50th Bn, 16 May 1918. To hospital sick, 21 June 1918; rejoined unit, 30 June 1918. On leave in the United Kingdom, 6 September 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 22 September 1918.

Marched out to commence return to Australia, 29 January 1919; left France for England, 10 February 1919; disembarked Weymouth, 11 February 1919. Commenced return to Australia on board 'Commonwealth', 13 April 1919; disembarked Australia, 12 June 1919; discharged, 28 July 1919.
