Embarked Fremantle on HMAT 'Ajana', 17 December 1915; taken on strength of 16th Bn, Tel-el-Kebir, 7 March 1916.

Proceeded to join British Expeditionary Force, 1 June 1916.

Admitted to 12th Field Ambulance, 22 August 1916, and transferred to 4th Casualty Clearing Station (varicose veins); to Ambulance Train, 23 August 1916, and transferred to 23rd General Hospital, Etaples. Embarked Calais on HS 'Dieppe' and proceeded to England, 26 August 1916; admitted to Lakenham Military Hospital, Norwich, 26 August 1916; transferred to 2nd Auxiliary Hospital, 2 November 1916; discharged on furlough, 4 November 1916. Marched into No 4 Command Depot, Wareham, 8 December 1916; marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 15 March 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on HT 'Barambah', 8 April 1917; disembarked Fremantle, 29 May 1917. Discharged Perth, 21 June 1917.
