Embarked Melbourne, 28 February 1918; disembarked Liverpool, England, 20 April 1918; marched out and taken on strength of 45th Bn, Codford, 5 June 1918.

Admitted to Brigade Hospital, 8 July 1918 (influenza); marched in to unit, 14 July 1918; proceeded overseas to France, 22 July 1918; marched in to Australian Infantry Base Depot, Havre, France, 24 July 1918; marched out to unit, 27 July 1918; rejoined unit, 1 August 1918.

Wounded in action and admitted to Ambulance Train, 17 August 1918 (gun shot wounds to right buttock and forearm); transferred to Casualty Clearing Station, 17 August 1918; to 5th Australian General Hospital, Rouen, 19 August 1918; to England, 22 August 1918; admitted to Royal Victoria Military Hospital, Netley, England, 23 August 1918.

On leave from 11 October to 25 October 1918; reported in to Sutton Veny Command Depot, 25 October 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'City of Exeter', 15 January 1919; reported absent without leave at Colombo, Ceylon, and failed to re-embark, 8 February 1919; embarked Colombo on board HT 'Demosthenes', 10 February 1919; disembarked Perth, 19 February 1919; discharged 28 March 1919.
