'The last days of fighting saw a fitting climax to the record of splendid service of Private GALLAHAR. His bravery and devotion to duty have been conspicuous from the commencement of the advance in August but during the BELLICOURT action his work won him the admiration of his comrades and the commendation of his Officers. Again and again he volunteered to carry messages at times when it was specially important that information should be sent but when the shelling was so severe that it seemed impossible that he could get through. Although he figured in no dramatic exploit his consistently brave and willing work, his self-sacrifice and devotion to duty deserve recognition.'
