'As R.S.M., 4th A.F.A. Brigade, has rendered most excellent and consistent good service. During the last six months his services have been of great value in training N.C.O.'s of his Brigade, who, owing to heavy casualties, were recently promoted from the ranks and required much training and assistance in their duties. The soldierly bearing and example of discipline which he has not only set buit maintained have been of great value to his Commanding Officer.'
