Military Cross ''For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in command of the company of sixteen machine guns after the officer in command was wounded. In spite of many casualties he succeeded in bringing all his guns into action and organizing supplies of ammunition and rations. He responded promptly to every S.O.S. call, though his battery was heavily shelled.''
