Embarked Melbourne, 17 January 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 27 March 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 14 April 1917; marched out to 1st Anzac Entrenching Bn, 21 April 1917.

Wounded in action, 23 May 1917 (gun shot wound, contusion, right groin), and admitted to 60th Field Ambulance, then transferred to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station; discharged to duty, 28 May 1917, and rejoined Bn same day.

Taken on strength, 3rd Australian Tunnelling Company, 8 September 1917.

Wounded in action (2nd occasion), 12 October 1917 (gun shot wound, right eye), and admitted to 1st Casualty Clearing Station; discharged to duty, 25 October 1917; rejoined unit same day.

Admitted to 34th Field Ambulance, 28 June 1918 (pyrexia, unknown origin), and transferred to 1st Canadian Casualty Clearing Station; discharged to duty, 2 July 1918; rejoined unit same day.

On leave, 22 December 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 6 January 1919. Marched out to England, 2 April 1919; marched in to No 3 Group, Codford, 2 April 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board 'Borda', 11 May 1919; discharged, 7 August 1919.
