'For gallantry and good leading at Jenin on the night of 20 September, 1918, when, with his section, he moved along the Nablus-road to take up a position. On the way a large force of the enemy was met with, and Lance-Corporal George gave great assistance to his section leader in handling a difficult situation. His prompt and courageous action prevented considerable casualties, and secured a large number of prisoners. He has on several occasions proved himself to be a very fine and fearless soldier.'
