War service: Egypt, Greece Admitted to hospital, Maadi, 23 January 1916; discharged from hospital, 26 January 1916 (no further details recorded). Admitted to No 4 Auxiliary Hospital, Abbassia, 7 February 1916 (measles); discharged to unit, 22 February 1916. Embarked Alexandria fopr Salonika, Greece, 25 August 1916; disembarked Alexandria from Salonika, 3 September 1916; rejoined Remount Unit, Heliopolis, 4 September 1916. Found guilty, 19 April 1917, of making a false accusation against a soldier knowing such accusation to be false in that he at Heliopolis on 18/4/17 on the Squadron Parade Ground at 11.10 am on 18/4/17 used language to the following effect: 'The Squadron Sgt Major is not fair in taking men for duty, and this is not the first time, three and four troops have been called out for extra duty, when it is not their turn. Why don't you give one or two troops a turn?': admonished. Admitted to 14th Australian General Hospital, Abbassia, 28 April 1917 (debility); discharged, and rejoined unit, 11 May 1917. Temporarily attached to Field Remount Section, Rafa, 20 October 1918. Marched out to Rest Camp, Port Said, 8 November 1918.
