Meritorious Service Medal 'For consistent good work as a C.Q.M.S. over the period February to September 1918 during which he has held this position. In this connection Special Mention may be made of his good work during the operations at DERNANCOURT on the nights of 5th, 6th and 7th April last, when, despite heavy Machine Gun Fire he succeeded in delivering the Company Rations in person each night in the Front Line. Again during the garrisoning of VILLERS BRETONNEUX by his Company he personally delivered supplies daily often under extreme danger and difficulty due to Gas Shell bombardment. As a Company Q.M.S. his work has been exemplary and his Office Books and Records have always been, and are now, kept in a most satisfactory manner and one which clearly indicated his careful and personnel attention to his work.'
