'For conspicuous service during the period 16th/17th September, 1918, to 11th November, 1918. Sergeant GILBERT has carried out the duties entrusted to him as Pay Sergeant of his Battalion in a most efficient and praiseworthy manner. He has proved himself a thoroughly reliable and painstaking N.C.O. fully conversant with all financial matters relative to the Battalion, and has at all times displayed conspicuous devotion to duty.'
