Medals |
Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At ZONNEBEKE on 4th October, 1917, this man was in the leading wave of the attack. His prompt action in firing his Lewis Gun from the hip caused the retreating enemy many casualties. Just before reaching his objective he brought his gun into action against an enemy filled gun which was emplaced on BROODSEINDE RIDGE and caused casualties among the enemy gunners. Throughout the whole of the operations he showed a complete disregard for danger and the skilful manner in which he handled his Lewis Gun made him of the greatest value in assisting the operations to its ultimate success.'
