Embarked melbourne, 20 June 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 10 August 1916.

Appointed Lance Corporal as from 20 June 1916; promoted Corporal, 12 September 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France, 22 November 1916.

Wounded in action, 13 January 1917 (gun shot wound, left leg), transferred to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train No 24, 16 January 1917, and admitted to 3rd Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne, 17 January 1917; transferred to England, 20 January 1917, and admitted to 2nd Southern General Hospital, Bristol, 21 January 1917 (wound: severe). Discharged on furlough, 2 March 1917, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 17 March 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 25 August 1917; rejoined 38th Bn, in the field, 2 September 1917.

Appointed Lance Sergeant, 18 December 1917.

On leave to Paris, 5 February 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, from leave, 14 February 1918.

Reverted to Corporal, 17 February 1918.

Killed in action, 31 August 1918.
