Embarked Sydney on SS 'Makarini', 1 April 1916; disembarked Suez, 2 May 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France from 1st Training Bn, Perham Downs, 25 July 1916; taken on strength of 3rd Bn, 3 August 1916.

Admitted to 2nd Field Ambulance, 19 August 1916, and transferred to Anzac Rest Station (shrapnel wound, left hand); to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station, 20 August 1916 (pleurisy); to Ambulance Train '19', 24 August 1916; to No 8 Red Cross Hospital, Le Torquet, 25 August 1916 (influenza); to Convalescent Camp, 31 August 1916. Marched into 1st Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 17 September 1916; moved out, 28 September 1916; rejoined unit, Belgium, 29 September 1917.

Killed in action, France, 6 March 1917.

Buried on the east side of Rue Eaucourt, L' Abbaye-le-Barque, 1 mile east of Le-gars, 3 miles southwest of Bapaume.
