Embarked Melbourne, 20 May 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 18 July 1916. Appointed Driver, 1 October 1916; transferred to 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column, Larkhill, 4 October 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France, 24 November 1916; taken on strength, 3rd DAC, in the field, 10 March 1917.

Transferred to 3rd Field Artillery Brigade, 28 March 1917.

Wounded in action, 20 June 1917 (gun shot wound, neck, right); admitted same day to 76th Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to 3rd N2 Field Ambulance, and thence to Ambulance Train No 14; admitted to 4th General Hospital, 21 June 1917; transferred to England, 28 June 1917, and admitted same to County of London War Hospital, Horton (wound: severe). Discharged on furlough, 24 July 1917, to report to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 7 August 1917.

Marched out to Overseas Training Brigade, Perham Downs, 25 August 1917.

Classified A3.

Marched out to Reserve Brigade Australian Artillery, Larkhill, 5 October 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 2 November 1917; marched in to Australian General Base Depot, Rouelles, 3 November 1917.
