Wounded in action, 1 February 1917 (gun shot wound, right thigh), admitted to 10th Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to No 2 Casualty Clearing Station; to No 1 Casualty Clearing Station, 2 February 1917; to Ambulance Train No 26, 4 February 1917, and admitted to 8th Stationary Hospital, Wimmereux, 5 February 1917 (gun shot wound, abdomen); to England, 7 February 1917, and admitted to Norfolk War Hospital, 8 February 1917 (wound: slight); transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 20 April 1917; discharged on furlough, 28 April 1917, to report to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 14 May 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 25 June 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 12 July 1917.

Wounded in action (second occasion), 31 July 1917 (gun shot wound, back), admitted to 9th Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to 15th Casualty Clearing Station, and thence to Ambulance Train; admitted to No 7 Canadian Stationary Hospital, Le Treport, 1 August 1917; transferred to England, 10 August 1917, and admitted to Temporary Hospital, Exeter, attached to Group Auxiliary Hospital, Exeter, 11 August 1917 (wound: severe). Transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 31 August 1917; discharged to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 3 September 1917.

Marched out to Overseas Training Brigade, Longbridge Deverill, 17 January 1918.

Proceeded overseas to France, 1 February 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 16 May 1918.

Wounded in action (third occasion), 4 July 1918 (gun shot wound, right buttock), admitted to 13th Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to 47th Casualty Clearing Station, and thence to Ambulance Train No 12; admitted to 10th General Hospital, Rouen, 5 July 1918; transferred to England, 10 July 1918, and admitted to 5th Southern General Hospital, Portsmouth, 11 July 1918 (wound: severe); transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 26 July 1918. Discharged on furlough, 5 August 1918, to report to No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 19 August 1918.

Marched out to Overseas Training Brigade, Longbridge Deverill, 27 September 1918. Admitted to Group Clearing Hospital, 9 October 1918 (influenza); discharged from hospital, 15 October 1918.

Proceeded overseas to France, 30 October 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 3 November 1918.

On leave to United Kingdom, 17 February 1919; leave extended to 8 March 1919.
