Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry near LIHONS19th august 1918. During an attack on the troops on our left a Sergeant and some wounded were left lying in the trench being occupied by the enemy while the barrage prevented their stretcher-bearers reaching them. Realising the urgent necessity of preventing the enemy from securing any identification, Corporal GOODSELL dashed through under very heavy fire of all kinds, bound up and forced the walking wounded back while he personally carried in the wounded Sergeant himself. His absolute contempt for danger and cool method of handling the wounded men undoubtedly prevented the enemy securing identification from that sector.'
