Military Medal 'On 18th September, 1917 some G.S. Wagons going along ZOUAVE TRACK near HALFWAY HOUSE towards the frong line, came under heavy shell fire. The Driver of one of the wagons was severely shaken and the horses ran away. GORMAN and a Lance Corporal chased and caught them, took them out of the wagon, both horses being wounded, and brought them back. There was a good deal of shelling at the time and the action was very creditable. Again during the attack upon the vicinity of POLYGON WOODS on 20th/21st September he had charge of a party who were putting through a communication between two strong points. During the 30 hours that the work was being carried out he displayed great energy in pushing the job ahead and at all times despite almost continuous shelling he acted with great coolness and set a fine example of steadiness to the men under him.'
