Proceeded to join Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 16 May 1915; admitted to hospital ship, 7 August 1915 (gun shot wound, arm); transferred to No 1 General Hospital, Heliopolis, Egypt, 10 August 1915; returned to duty, 6 January 1916.

Marched out to Serapeum, 27 February 1916.

Found guilty, 13 November 1916 of being absent without leave from 7.00 pm, 10 November, to 7.00 pm, 11 November 1916: awarded 2 days’ RPW; forfeited a total of 7 days’ pay.

To Imperial School of Instruction, Zeitoun, 4 September 1917; passed as Gunner; returned to unit, 16 September 1917.

Appointed Lance Corporal, 19 November 1917.

To Rest Camp, Port Said, 19 January 1918; returned to duty, 1 February 1918.
