Military Medal 'On August 9th 1918, near ROSIERES a portion of the line was held up by an enemy machine gun. Private GRANT formed one of a bombing party sent forward to cope with this gun. He showed great coolness and courage in helping to clear out the post, bayonetting two of the enemy after the rest of his comrades had been shot down. he then turned the enemy machine gun on to another hostile post and forced the enemy to evacuate it by enfilade fire, inflicting severe casualties on them. His courage and presence of mind greatly facilitated the advance.'
