Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty 18th to 20th September 1918, Est of BELLENGLISE. This man acted as Battalion Runner. Owing to heavy enemy shell fire casualties amongst runners were many. This man made repeated trips between Battalion and Company Headquarters passing through intense enemy bombardment, and successfully carrying important despatches. On the night 19th/20th September 1918, owing to casualties amongst the guide for ration limbers it would have been impossible for troops to have been fed had it not ben for the pluck and endurance of this man, who made several journeys guiding the limbers to the dumps.'
