Fate subsequently determined to be 'Killed in Action, 19 July 1916'. Note, Red Cross File No 1210608: 'No trace Germany. Cert by Capt. Mills. 10.10.19.' Statement, 3412 Pte M.T. MAHONEY, 57th Bn, Machine Gun Company, 12 January 1917; 'Witness says he helped to bury soldier out on No Man's Land at Fleurbaix about 6 days after the action during a heavy fog.' RILEY, 57th Bn (patient, 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, England), 26 January 1917: 'I saw him dead at Fleurbaix and took his paybook and photos. I gave the pay-book to Lieut.
