Disembarked from HT 'Simla' at Alexandria, 29 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation); to be Lance Corporal, Tel-el-Kebir, 20 January 1916. Transferred to 56th Bn, 16 February 1916; taken on strength of 56th Battalion, Tel-el-Kebir, 13 February 1916; to be Acting Corporal, Tel-el-Kebir, 14 February 1916; to be Temporary Corporal and Acting Sergeant, Tel-el-Kebir, 25 August 1916; promoted to rank of Sergeant, Ferry Post, 25 February 1916.
