No. 2842b Private Charles Fredrick GRIMBLE displayed most conpicuous bravery as a runner in delivering very important messages. To do this Private GRIMBLE had to constantly pass through most severe artillery barrages, he was not content with delivering his messages but rendered valuable and life saving assistance to wounded and in one case, although the night was very cold, gave his tunic to a wounded man and was compelled to see the remainder of the engagement through clad only in a thin shirt. Private GRIMBLE reduced himself time and again to utter exhaustion and had to be frequently ordered to rest.'
