Found guilty, 11 February 1916, of leaving the vicinity of his guard without permission from the Officer commanding it: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 1 and forfeited 7 days' pay. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 17 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916. Killed in action, 20 July 1916.
