Military Medal 'For conspicuous bravery and tenacious devotion to duty near ZONNEBEKE, on night of 11th/12th October, 1917. When the main cable route containing all the Brigade and Artillery lines both forward and rear was broken by shell fire in the vicinity of SAN SOCUI. Sapper HADEN assisted in locating the break, and as only tow men could work in the shell crater at once, he worked there with Corporal PETERSEN all night in spite of the continued heavy shelling of that area and succeeded in getting lines through before the attack at 5.20 a.m. on 12th October, 1917.'
