Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Whilst taking part in a counter attack an enemy machine gun was met. This man, realizing the menace, collected five men, and by skilful work, captured it, enabling the attack to reach its objective. He continued doing excellent work until woun ded.'
