Embarked Melbourne, 16 December 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 18 February 1917, and marched into 15th Training Bn, Hurdcott.

Found guilty, Windmill Hill Camp, 21 May 1917, of being absent without leave from midnight, 18 May, to 8 am, 21 May 1917: awarded 4 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited a total of 6 days' pay.

Proceeded overseas to France, 25 August 1917; taken on strength, 37th Bn, in the field, 1 September 1917.

Found guilty, 17 September 1917, of being absent without leave from Reveille till 5 pm, 16 September 1917; awarded 5 days' confined to barracks, and forfeited 1 day's pay under Royal Warrant.

Reported missing, Belgium, 12 October 1917.

Court of Enquiry, 2 May 1918, concluded: 'Killed in action, 12 October 1917'.
