Found guilty, 21 May 1917, of being absent without leave, midnight, 18 May, to 8 am, 21 May 1917: awarded 4 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited 6 days' pay.

Letter 'A' affixed to regimental number owing to duplication, 15 August 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 25 August 1917; taken on strength, 37th Bn, in the field, 1 September 1917.

Admitted to 3rd Field Ambulance, 9 October 1917 (influenza), and transferred to 10th Casualty Clearing Station; to 18th General Hospital, Camiers, 10 October 1917 (gastric ulcer); to England, 15 October 1917, and admitted to Queen Mary's Military Hospital, Whalley, Lancashire (influenza: severe).

Found guilty, Queen Mary's Hospital, 27 December 1917, of being absent without leave from 5.30 pm, 26 December, to 5.45 am, 27 December 1917: admonished, and forfeited 2 days' pay under Royal Warrant.
