Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry on September 29th, 1918, Southwest of LE GATELET while acting as a runner to Brigade Headquarters. He accompanied the advance party of it moving forward to establish itself in BONY. On approaching GILLIMONT FARM the party came under intense machine gun and shell fire which caused casualties and disorganised the party. On the party again being got together Sapper Hall was the only runner left. Throughout the day he continually carried messages under fire and set a splendid example of courage and devotion to duty.'
