Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in operations East of LE VERGUIER on 18th September 1918. This soldier was employed as guide to ration parties to the outpost Hindenburg Line, and notwithstanding heavy shell fire he never failed to deliver the rations. it was due to his fearlessness and example that hot rations were safely conveyed each night to the foremost positions.'
