'Took part in the charge against Turks at Hill 60, Gallipoli, on 27th August, 1915, and showed himself to be a fearless fighter. He succeeded in entering the enemy's trenches under heavy rifle and shell fire and assisting in holding it all that night until relieved. His work generally has been exceptionally efficient.'
