Military Medal 'For gallantry under fire and devotion to duty. At LAGNICOURT, at dawn on April 15th Pvt. Hamilton was in charge of a Lewis Machine Gun when the enemy attacked in force. He rushed forward with his gun and opened a deadly fire upon the enemy who immediately began to retire. He remained there under continuous snipers fire during the whole attack and thus protected the left flank of the picquet.'
