He has carried out his duties often under the most trying conditions and heavy shell fire, with exemplary determination and regardless of his personal safety. As a runner on Brigade headquarters he has many times been called upon to deliver important operation despatches under very heavy shell fire and in all weathers, a duty which he has never failed to fulfil. His work under all conditions has shown him to be a very keen and resourceful soldier.'
