Embarked Melbourne, 3 July 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 2 September 1916, and marched into 2nd Training Bn, Perham Downs.

Proceeded overseas to France, 2 November 1916; marched into 1st Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 3 November 1916; re-allotted to 59th Bn Reinforcements, 15 November 1916; taken on strength of 59th Bn, 17 November 1916.

Admitted to 8th Australian Field Ambulance, 31 May 1917, and transferred to 5th Divisional Receiving Station (sprained ankle); discharged to duty, 16 June 1917; rejoined unit from hospital, 21 June 1917.

Found guilty while on lines, 13 July 1917, of failing to appear on parade after being duly warned, 12 July 1917: awarded 7 days' confinement to barracks.

Detached to 15th Infantry Brigade Headquarters as Camp Warden, 30 September 1917; rejoined unit from detachment, 9 October 1917.
