Embarked Sydney on SS ‘Hawkes Bay’, 20 April 1916; disembarked Egypt, 24 May 1916; joined unit on lines, 27 May 1916.

Embarked Alexandria on HMT ‘Transylvania’ and proceeded to join the British Expeditionary Force, 1 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 8 June 1916.

Admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance, 3 October 1916 (bronchitis); transferred to 13th Australian Field Ambulance, 4 October 1916; to 17th Casualty Clearing Station, 12 October 1916; to Ambulance Train, 12 October 1916; to 14th Stationary Hospital, Wimereux, 12 October 1916. Embarked Boulogne on HS ‘St. David’ and proceeded to England for further treatment, 14 October 1916; admitted to Guildford War Hospital, 14 October 1916; transferred to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 28 October 1916; discharged to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 4 November 1916. Transferred to 69th Bn, Wareham, and taken on strength, 23 March 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France through Folkestone, 29 April 1917; marched into 4th Australian Divisional Base Depot, 30 April 1917; moved into the field, 3 May 1917; taken on strength, 15th Bn, 4 May 1917.

Admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance, 24 December 1917 (pyrexia); admitted to 5th Casualty Clearing Station, 27 December 1917; transferred to 9th General Hospital, Rouen, 29 December 1917. Commenced return to Australia for change on board HT ‘Dunnegan Castle’, 13 March 1918; embarked HT ‘Feld Marschall’, Durban, 28 April 1918; disembarked Melbourne, 22 May 1918. Discharged on account of being medically unfit for continued service, 24 June 1918 (arterio sclerosis).
