'On the night of 4th/5th in the attack on STORMY TRENCH near GUEUDECOURT, Private HARRIS, one of "A" Company stretcher bearers, did excellent work in our trench rescuing the wounded under very heavy shell fire, and was the means of saving several men from bleeding to death. He remained at the work all night moving up and down the heavily shelled trenches of his Company's Sector. e casualties during this period amounted to 84. He continued at this work until all were dressed, and then escorted walking cases down to the R.A.P., making several trips. He was wounded during the next morning and had to be evacuated.'
