Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations near BRAY on 22nd August, 1918. Private ADDISON, of the Regimental Police volunteered to carry an urgent message to the front line during an intense artillery and machine gun barrage. He continued to act as runner and made 10 trips from Battalion Headquarters to the front line over exposed and heavily shelled country until he was badly wounded. Throughout he displayed wonderful courage, cheerfulness and energy, and largely through his efforts communications with the front line were well maintained.'
