Statement, Red Cross File No 1290903, 2650 Corporal D. OGILVY, C Company, 60th Bn, 15 January 1917: 'I knew Havey very well. He was in the 8th Battalion with me on the Peninsula. He was acting as a bomber at Fleurbaix on July 19th. and was killed. I saw his dead body lying out in No Man's Land. He was lying out with a Corporal. I took a drink of water to the Cpl. and asked him if Havey would have some. The Cpl. said Havey had died during the night. I turned his body over and found it to be so.'

Second statement, 3565 Corporal J.W. MURTON, 60th Bn (patient, 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, England), 19 January 1917: 'He was in the same shell hole with me where we were for 3 days and 2 nights. He was shot through the back and died two nights after on the 20th July 16. I saw him after he had died.'
