'For consistent devotion to duty. During the whole period from 25th February 1918 to the night of 16th/17th September 1918, No. 362 Private ROBERT BARCLAY, as a Stretcher Bearer, has shown exceptional devotion to duty. His efforts to render first aid to the wounded as quickly as possible, even in the face of great personal danger, have been his sole ambition. His services in this direction have been invaluable. During operations, Private BARCLAY has, on many occasions, set a magnificent example to the men of his Company, by his absolute fearlessness, coolness and determination. During the strenuous active operations since August 8th 1918, his admirable devotion to duty, his cheerfulness, and the way in which he attended to casualties, is worthy of every recognition.'
