Embarked Melbourne on HMAT 'Afric', 22 May 1915. Transferred to 5th Australian Divisional Train, Moascar, 11 March 1916; taken on strength of 10th Company, Alexandria, 13 March 1916.

Found guilty, Ferry Post, 1 May 1916, of disobeying a company order: awarded 7 days' confinement to camp.

Found guilty in Ismailia of (1) disobeying orders, and (2) negligence: awarded 2 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Embarked Alexandria on HMT 'Knight Templar' and proceeded to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 25 June 1916.

Proceeded on leave to the United Kingdom, 15 January 1917. Taken ill while on leave, 26 January 1917; admitted to King George's Hospital, Dublin, 27 January 1917; discharged to duty, 16 March 1917.
