Military Cross

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This officer, while leading his platoon in an attack on a village, was checked by machine gun and rifle fire from an enemy post. He rapidly organized and led a party against it, killing or capturing the whole of the garrison, and enabling the advance to be continued. He showed great coolness and disregard of danger during the consolidation, and set a fine example to his men.'
