Admitted to 7th Field Ambulance, 27 June 1917 (pyrexia, unknown origin); transferred to 56th Casualty Clearing Station, 3 July 1917 (trench fever); to 1st Australian General Hospital, Rouen, 9 July 1917; to Convalescent Depot, Rouen 19 July 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 12 September 1917.

On leave to England, 3 February 1918; rejoined Bn from leave, 20 February 1918.

Wounded in action, 19 July 1918 (gun shot wound, right hand: severe); admitted to 11th Stationary Hospital, Rouen, 21 July 1918; transferred to England , 23 July 1918, and admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Birmingham, 25 July 1918; transferred to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 22 August 1918; discharged to Convalescent Depot, 28 August 1918.
