Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 30 August 1915.

Admitted to 6th Field Ambulance, Gallipoli, 7 October 1915, and transferred same day to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station (otitis media); from Mudros via HS 'Caledonia', 9 October 1915, and admitted to General Hospital, Gibraltar, 15 October 1915 (enteric fever); to England, 29 December 1915, and admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth, 3 January 1916.

Admitted to Bulford Hospital, 9 June 1916; discharged, 21 August 1916; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 74 days.

Found guilty, Rollestone, 30 September 1916, of neglecting to obey Standing Order: awarded 7 days' confined to camp and forfeited 7 days' pay; total forfeiture: 14 days' pay.

Proceeded overseas to France, 12 November 1916; rejoined 2nd Bn, 6 December 1916.

On leave, 17 September 1917; rejoined unit, 29 September 1917.
